King Street Brass enjoyed a great musical partnership on November 4, 2023 with the London Salvation Army’s Jubilee Brass. That’s two British-style brass bands together at the Guelph Citadel.
Selections ranged from Handel’s Water Music and Mozart’s Magic Flute to Phantom of the Opera, and of course a few stirring Salvationist marches. And, someone majorly turned UP the metronome for our Spanish tune, el Combanchero!
Jubilee’s selections had an interesting mix of composers, including: Henry the VIII’s reputed composition ‘Pastime with Good Company’, Chicago Salvationist composer William Himes’ Southern-style ‘Leaning’, equally well known British composer Eric Ball’s ‘Serenity’, and ‘Abundant Grace’, a 2019 march by Jubilee’s own conductor David Roswell.
